They won't go!

I put a booking deposit down on a second hand apartment in Clonee last October on the understanding that the sellers would be moving to their new home in Jan. In December the date was pushed to end of March but I pushed back and said it was too far out. The contract date was agreed by both parties as Feb 28 and on this basis I paid the 10% deposit.

Contracts have been signed, everything set up and today my solicitor contacted me to say they won't go til end March. (They wouldnt permit a clause to be entered in the contract with regard to them pushing the date which again leads me to think this was pre-planned).

I'm afraid the date will continue to be pushed ..... any suggestions on how I can get them to respect the date set out in the contract??

I believe your solicitor can issue a 28 day notice of completion but I'm not sure how this is enforced or what penalties can be charged. What does your solicitor advise?

My solicitor has worded a very strong letter outlining our dissatisfaction with the situation - in particular the lack of notice that they have given us and the costs that I will now incur as a result. He has advised them that I will sue for costs - which I will - but my main fear is that if we okay the date push out it will be continued to be pushed.
