Hi

Am thinking of doing The Writers Bureau Freelance Journalism home study Course.

There are 28 modules including target markets, getting paid etc. You write 15 assignments and they are corrected by a tutor.

They say they offer a full money back gaurantee: if you have not made the cost of your course back by the time you have finished the course they will refund your money (you have to submit a selection of rejection letters) and there is no time limit on finishing the course

It sounds like a decent course but they write to me every couple of months advertising their courses with money off offers etc and for some reason that puts me off....

does anyone have any experience of this company or these courses ?

Hi Ice,
did you ever sign up for this course? From looking at your other Journalism query, maybe not. Was looking at this course as a possibility but would really prefer to pursue a course where I interacted with others, something about society and how it works.

no I decided against it ...one of the things that put me off is there constant marketing....and I think that if you can come up with ideas, have a bit of talent and know how to market your ideas you can break into the freelance market without such a course...

I also knew i would pay for thre course and it would sit in a drawer somewhere never to be looked at

If you are interested in freelance writing a good book is

Thanks for that, have the same reservations, you're the second person to recommend that book, looks like I'm building up another amazon order to get value out of the postage. Best of luck.

Their website is also good and they will email out 12 sample queries that have led to paid work for them...so do check out the site..

Best of luck to you too....its a tough market but not impossible to break into (I hope )
