Hi there,

I know this sounds strange but I'ml looking for a specific garlic press. I saw them in the US years ago, they seemed to be stadard there but I cant find them here. They have plastic or rubber prongs on the surface that is used to press the garlic through the holes and this works much better than the flat surface that you usually get. I've been looking on the internet too but to no avail. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I called into some of the swanky kitchen shops in Dublin but they didnt' have any.

Until you've found one try grating the clove on the small hole side of the grater - less waste and easier to clean than a regular garlic press.

Thanks, I've been using a knife to date....I'm holding out until I find the perfect one!!!!

Just got one as a present from "Newbridge Cuisine" as in Newbridge cuttlery people. I suggest you check out their website.

I think I have the absolute ultimate garlic press, and it might be the one you remember. It's from pampered chef - got it in the US

I've had a few and this is definitely the best. I've had them break on me, but this one is really strong. I've no idea if you can buy them here in Ireland though!

Edited to add that the ebay link sueellen posted has loads of these

Thats great, thanks all. I'll check those out. Someone else told me that Stock may have some too.

You can get them in that homewares shop in Airside Retail Park, swords (the one beside B&Q that's a copy of the US Bed, Bath & Beyond chain - can't remember the name - Home Store, perhaps?

Just bought one a few weeks ago. Think it was OXO brand, similar to http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00004OCJX/qid=1144750303/sr=1-1/ref=sr_1_1/102-3353933-6485757?s=kitchen&v=glance&n=284507 (this.)
