I think that few things might be more urgently needed than a proper cost benefit analysis of the entire health system in this country.Just be careful about suggesting policy should only be decided on a cost benefit basis as this would see a lot of healthcare options, particularly for the elderly eliminated.
I think you missed the point.I think that few things might be more urgently needed than a proper cost benefit analysis of the entire health system in this country.
probably!I think you missed the point.
And what's wrong with that?Just be careful about suggesting policy should only be decided on a cost benefit basis as this would see a lot of healthcare options, particularly for the elderly eliminated.
I don't like how that calculation is looking on my own existenceAnd what's wrong with that?
Don't worry, these initiatives always only apply to other people.I don't like how that calculation is looking on my own existence
No budget for TV ads? Keep them in the dark and feed them mushroom food as usual.would have thought rsa or whoever in charge of this would have been doing a lot of tv messaging at this stage about it ?
Much of the target audience don't watch TV any more! Besides, they're more likely to be off blowing the budget on high vis for toddlers as a means of slowing down reckless drivers.would have thought rsa or whoever in charge of this would have been doing a lot of tv messaging at this stage about it ?
The RSA are in a difficult position in that the problem is lack of enforcement of the current laws by the Gardai but the RSA can't just say that.Much of the target audience don't watch TV any more! Besides, they're more likely to be off blowing the budget on high vis for toddlers as a means of slowing down reckless drivers.
I agree, but much of the focus of their spending is on potential victims, which shifts focus away from the root cause. The RSA are in a difficult position in that the problem is lack of enforcement of the current laws by the Gardai but the RSA can't just say that.
I don't think ads would matter wherever they are....When you see people been caught doing over 200 km in a 100 km zone , which are highlighted all the time, the message simply isn't getting through...I agree, but much of the focus of their spending is on potential victims, which shifts focus away from the root cause.
My point is someone who drives like that seeing an add telling people to put high vis on kids just serves to reinforce the idea that people getting killed on the roads are to blame themselves. It does nothing to address the driver's behaviour. When you see people been caught doing over 200 km in a 100 km zone , which are highlighted all the time, the message simply isn't getting through...
Agreed. I walk a few times a week on a secondary road 80 km with a pram and I have a high vis on both the pram and myself ....the speed is unbelievable at times ..My point is someone who drives like that seeing an add telling people to put high vis on kids just serves to reinforce the idea that people getting killed on the roads are to blame themselves. It does nothing to address the driver's behaviour.
Yep, I've done that too. And the dirty looks you get from some who think you shouldn't be there at all!Agreed. I walk a few times a week on a secondary road 80 km with a pram and I have a high vis on both the pram and myself ....the speed is unbelievable at times ..
I have people blowing at me and swerving at the last minute. Some still talk on their phones while driving,,,even in the town .Yep, I've done that too. And the dirty looks you get from some who think you shouldn't be there at all!
They are perfectly entitled to walk two or more abreast. RSA guidance for large groups (20+) is to walk on the left hand side."so you walk single file, on your near-side, facing on-coming traffic". "
