hi,

well according to those boys and girls in the ERSI we will bounce back in the mid term (how long is that?) but the drivers of growth in the economy will change.

namely construction will not be the engine house of the economy but the services sector will take over that role.

i think they said there will be an additional 240,000 service sector jobs by the year 2015 but 70,000 jobs will be lost in construction, manufacturing, agriculture, public utilities ( so more privatisation then?).

what are these 70,000 poor sods (myself included) to do - the services sector is not attractive to everyone, retraining is not always practical (costs) etc, age becomes a factor, is a 55 year old going to train in IT or sales - i'm not saying it can't be done - far from it - but is it likely?
