So we, as a country who has made huge amounts of money over the last 10 years, have a jet that "has no toilet and is prone to catching fire".

We are sending our leader up in a jet that catches fire !!!! And you can bet that if I saw a jet I was in catch fire that I would DEFINITELY need a toilet.

They've three jets.

The one that catches fire they're avoiding using.

It's the one they can't stand up in and doesn't have a toilet that they have the main problem with.

And they don't use the third one much because it's impossible without ear mufflers.

Great slapstick stuff.

You know Bertie said it to wind the press up, he he he I found it very amusing.

I wonder which one was the one that got hit by lightning on the way into Belfast airport recently ! Can you believe that they flew the jet to Belfast ! I mean, how much did it cost to send them by plane versus driving them all in a mini bus. Scandalous waste of tax-payers money. Never mind the huge carbon footprint. Bah !!

Are you seriously suggesting that the leader of the country and front bench ministers should plod through the traffic in a minibus?

Sure wouldn't they have a garda escort ? Very doubtful they'd have to "plod through the traffic". Point is it's scandalous flying the jet to Belfast, it's only 100 miles from Dublin.

Why not?
Are these people somehow better than everyone else?

I would also hope that prior to boarding the jet, they were subjected to the ridiculous 'security' charade that everyone else suffers.

I would love to see the politicians do an exercise whereby they all had to rely on public transport for a week. I know such a hilarious/ridiculous thing would never happen though because (a) they could not be expected to make appointments on time, (b) they are far too important and (c) public transport is only for the ordinary people.

I agree 100%

That reminds me of when the driving licence reforms were being brought in a few months back, the minister was on the last word saying that old people in the country would not be affected as we have an excellent public transport system………………………. (goes to show the last time he got a bus)

& yes they should use public transport & lead by example.
