But with this logic you would (for example) cancel the public holiday on 25 and 26 December too, no?Do you believe thousands of such events are happening indoors across the country with large gatherings of people who don't usually socialise together are mixing?
We're in that boat and not having the ceremony is a big blessingI was speaking to a friend lately who is hopeful that ceremonies will not proceed for some time yet. As many others, they feel obliged to have the big party in the house because that's what the child and the extended families expect
December is a long way away, I'm certainly not going to predict what state we'll be in then and the Government obviously can't plan that far ahead. We know that the relaxatation of restrictions last December led to us going from the lowest infection rate across Europe to having the highest rate in the world. But with this logic you would (for example) cancel the public holiday on 25 and 26 December too, no?
yes, after all there were 2 events this weekend with 18000 people at them in Croke Park, how many thousands were out welcoming Kellie Harrington home yesterday? How many pubs are behaving like the Healy Rae's? (allegedly !)Do you believe thousands of such events are happening indoors across the country with large gatherings of people who don't usually socialise together are mixing?
I was speaking to a friend lately who is hopeful that ceremonies will not proceed for some time yet. As many others, they feel obliged to have the big party in the house because that's what the child and the extended families expect, and a number of his in-laws have refused to be vaccinated. He doesn't want them putting other relatives at risk but feels trapped as not inviting them would lead to grief.
Croke Park is an indoor venue???yes, after all there were 2 events this weekend with 18000 people at them in Croke Park
I never said it was an indoor venue but there would be mass congregation of people (no pun intended) in the areas behind the stand before, during and after the game. Imagine the rush to the loos after Kilkenny scored that last minute goal.Croke Park is an indoor venue???

so is the bouncy castle and the kids running around the back garden,Those areas are all open and very well ventilated, much different risk profile than a private home or any indoor venue.
True, but you do tend to have a lot more physical contact with others in a bouncy castle than you would behind the stands in Croke Park!so is the bouncy castle and the kids running around the back garden,
Again, that's a failing in your understanding. You're judging my risk appetite based on my clarifying what's in government statements or policy. I never said I didn't want religious ceremonies.@Leo from your posts you are very risk adverse with regard to covid, you do not want religious ceremonies to start again because of the potential for socializing afterwards, yet you are defending the decision to allow 40000 spectators in to see the all Ireland's surely this is inconsistent ? This is the biggest crowd gathering allowed for anything nobody else is being allowed this. Why are you in favour of such large crowd gatherings for gaa given your risk adverse approach towards everything else?
This addresses the point of my original post.We may agree or disagree with the Public Health advice but for an organisation with such bad track record of ignoring the law to flagrantly disregard said advice is both amazing and at the same time not surprising.
