I had nothing better to do today ,so decided to see how many houses were for sale in Ireland ,this is what I found from just one website;
Now this is just the houses for sale so doesnt include appartments

Kildare 1360,
Kilkenny 620,
Laois 880,
Leitrim 460,
Limerick 990,
Louth 660,
Mayo 1290,
Meath 1210,
Monaghan 180,
Offaly 310,
Roscommon 120,
Sligo 490,
Tipperary 880,
Waterfird 620,
Westmeath 620,
Wexford 1860,
Wicklow 1260,
Kilkenny 760,
Galway inc city 2830
Carlow 590,
Cavan 1800,
Clare 820,
Cork 4210,
Donegal 860,
Dublin 6410...

Anyone know if this has happened before? It seems like a huge amount.

If anyone can calulate ,based on the population of each county, which one has the most for sale it would make interesting reading.

Example would be kilkennys population is 22,179, houses for sale is 760,
Dublin has a population of approx 2 million ,houses for sale 4770.

Its not very accurate though because you need to take into account the amount of houses repeatedly advertised by different agents. Its not unusual to see the same house advertised with 5 different agents.

Difficult to be accurate with two values for Kilkenny, is it 620 or 760? Is this city/town or county?

Get population figures from cso.ie and calculate which has most per head. Though that seems like a meaningless exercise.

The recent DAFT report indicated the current stock of houses for sale was trending down.

Dublin does not have a population of 2 million!!

Opps its the larger number of 760 for Kilkenny..
I dont think its meaningless,in that if we could gather some information about where the most houses are for sale now,it could be usefull in the future ,for say, someone thinking of relocating, why there are so many houses in one particular area etc.
You are correct that the population in Dublin is not 2m,but it just feels like that at times.

Re the opening post. Isn't there a county missing. Or has it been lost under the snow?

You have included Kilkenny twice. Something to do with the total number of GAA football games that they won?

Does the list mean that 4210 householders are wanting to escape from Cork?

Where would they go; who would have them??

No one leaving Town here, Bill. Just 4210 householders wanting to move further up along Montenotte to get a better view of the harbour.

What about Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan? A quick google may show that it's very underpopulated. And that should be far enough from Kerry for most Cork people.
