The AA -vs- RAC, which one is best ?

AA Membership is personal to you, the member. It covers you whether driving or are a passenger in any car, because you are the person covered not your car.

Whether you need assistance in Ireland or the UK your call is handled by our Rescue Centre in Dublin and our staff will ensure that your problem is resolved as quickly as possible.

It’s the minor problems that cause the major headaches and some examples of the calls we receive everyday are :

Key Lost / Locked in Car
Alarm Fault
Out of Fuel
Collision Damage
Overheating
Mechanical Failure

For an additional €40 you can extend the cover of your AA Cover, to members of your family, living in the same house hold.

RAC Ireland Cover gives you the reassurance of RAC breakdown cover in the Republic of Ireland and the UK.
Choose from one of the following levels of cover that best suits your needs.


- Roadside €90 pa

Roadside provides assistance at the roadside or outside your home, should you break down.

If we can't get you going within a reasonable time then we will tow your vehicle to a nearby garage.


- Roadside & Recovery €125

All the benefits of Roadside

If we cannot fix your car within a reasonable time then we will take you, your vehicle and up to seven passengers to any republic of Ireland or mainland UK destination.


- Roadside Onward Travel €145

Includes all the benefits of the Roadside and Recovery services

The additional reassurance of a Personal Incident Manager who will arrange a replacement car for one day (while yours is being repaired) or overnight accommodation or onward travel by an alternative means, if your vehicle cannot be repaired within a reasonable time.

In addition, messages can be forwarded, informing anyone who needs to know, that you have broken down.

If the driver of your vehicle (not necessarily you) is certified ill and no one else is able to drive it, we will take you to any Republic of Ireland destination.
