I can never understand the people who queue for 15-20mins for Tescos fuel when the Esso on the Straffan Rd is only a cent dearer. If you put 50l in your tank you are saving 50c for 20mins of your time. That's 1.50/hour. Would those people work for that? I doubt it, so why waste your time off at the weekend.

If you're willing to pay the higher prices because you put a monetary cost on all of your time, then good luck to you.
Others however, me included, will go for the best value possible, and avoid businesses that charge higher prices.
By frequenting businesses that provide value, and ignoring those that don't, we can pressurise businesses into actually partaking in proper competition on prices.
