I bought a packet of green beans in tesco clarehall today that had a big red sticker saying £1. When i had paid and checked my receipt (always check my receipt in tescos and almost always find a mistake), i realised that the beans had come up as 1.79. When i took the beans back out of my bag, i realised that it was a pound sign and not a euro sign on the special offer sticker. So i went to the service desk to say that there was a mistake to which i was told - "eh, thats the pound price". Told them why the hell would prices be advertised in pounds in an irish supermarket , to which they told me "cos the beans come form england"...there was no other price on the packet...might have been a price on the strip at the shelving, never looked cos the big red special offer sticker on the packet took my attention. anyhow after much toing and froing with the girl at the desk, i finally got a very unwilling refund....
the girl was looking at me as if i was being really fickle and unreasonable...next time i must take my currency calculator to translate the prices. Apart from anything, not sure how £1 becomes €1.79???

anyone know if there any laws out there about this or somewhere i can complain.
