Tesco Gift Vouchers

The best thing Logo is just take a chance and spend it in Tesco . Buy what you need ......you might even like it, Tesco that is , who knows..
You can tell us all about your experience...

You can be sure that the work scheme only paid about 80% of the value of the voucher; big stores like Tesco offer discounts on giftcards and that is why a giftcard cannot be used to purchase another giftcard. There is also an admin cost for stores to run a giftcard programme.
This topic was discussed on Joe Duffy in April:
Dunnes have the best discount at 10% for buying over €100,000 of cards.

Tesco give from 1% to 7.5% depending on value.

On the return wheeze someone mentioned, these days the receipt will give all the info, so if you try and return something, the till can refund to the payment method without the payment method being produced.

This from experience? They are under no obligation to do so and I'd imagine widespread abuse of their generous returns policy might lead to restrictions that might affect many more with genuine returns.
Yes in the last year I have returned a box of fire logs and a pair of headphones with no issues. I'm not sure what you mean by genuine returns. I'm just availing of the service offered by Tesco, Dunnes and the bigger stores that are happy to take returns.

There was nothing wrong with the above items, they were more of an impulsive buy.

By genuine returns I'm thinking of people with mobility issues who may have family members shop for them and bring items to their home, returning the items that don't suit or fit well. Abuse of a generous returns policy might put that facility at risk.

Apart from that there is a cost to returns. Many items returned in this manner never go back on sale and end up being dumped. Apart from the environmental impact of that, it is also reflected in the costs of the items we all purchase.

OP it might also be worth your while giving feedback to your employer....if enough people do, they might reconsider the type of voucher they offer. I suspect they went with Tesco due to price and ease of people to use it. I made a suggestion to mine that they pay us part of our annual bonus in 2025 using a voucher...I would prefer to spend a voucher to save myself the 750 tax!

I don't see this putting the policy at risk tbh. It exists because the multiples have the power and size to offer it to consumers.

I'd also wager that many times more items never get used and eventually end up in land fill etc. as people are too lazy to return them or buy them on impulse like I did above thinking that they may someday have a use for them.

If lots of people start using vouchers bought at bulk discount to purchase and quickly return goods and get the full value via a cheque I think the multiples will crack down on it pretty quickly.
