Hi All
first post on this site.
Does anyone know what will happen to existing Tesco Credit Card holders after Brexit.? There is speculation that existing Irish Card holders accounts will be sold to another provider due to fact that Tesco won't have a valid licence to operate their Credit card business here. Any info in relation to this would be appreciated

Thanks

At this point DW I don't think anyone 'knows' what will happen any cross-border arrangement after Brexit because no one knows what Brexit will entail, including those at No. 10 Downing Street!

I think the scenario you outlined must be a definite possibility that could occur ... beyond that, as previous poster said, nobody knows :(

It's a strange one. Tesco Bank stopped accepting new customer applications some time ago now. The speculation at the time was that Tesco Bank were going to sell their existing customer base. That still surely has to happen. Tesco Bank cannot continue to passport into Ireland post Brexit.

I was expecting them to have sold the Irish credit card customer base already tbh.

It makes absolutely no sense to have closed it to new customers, but do nothing more with it and particularly, when the economy is growing etc.

Is the card actually worth having anymore ? ... I have not looked at it for a while, but thought it had become quite expensive for those who do not clear the balance in full each month, points were no where near as generous as they once were and unless something has changed, they don't even offer a decent online service.

The interest rate doesn't matter to me as I pay it off.
They have no online service so that's a pain.
I just use mine to accrue points which I use to pay against my Bord Gais bill but it's something like 1 point for €8 spend. It used to be 1 point for €2 spend. While I used to use my card for everything I barely use it now.

Is there a better rewards card in Ireland?
