Every time you fill up with your Tesco Clubcard at a Certa forecourt, you’ll get 10c off every litre of fuel purchased*.

Discounts are applied automatically at the pump. Simply scan or insert your Clubcard, complete your transaction, fill up and away you go.

For customers who don’t have a Clubcard, don’t worry, you won’t miss out! You can download the Clubcard app below and register on your mobile device. Every time you fill up, simply scan the QR code. Once registered you will get a Clubcard delivered to your home, but this can take up to 21 working days to arrive.

The process I followed (guided by staff member as the help signs not v helpful)

Scan your clubcard at barcode scanner.
Then put in your credit card preauthorise eg 40e.
Take out card.
Fill up.
You are only charged for how much you fill up and then discount applied.
You can print receipt at end.

* initially on your list of card transactions it might show the preauthorised amount

Cashel today 133.9 for diesel, without the 0.10/litr extra off.

Between myself and 4 other shoppers in Cashel today we failed to find a single pump from the eight on the forecourt that would read our Clubcards, either from the fob on our keyrings, the Stocard app or by phoning home from the intercom at the pumps. A woman sounding like a self-satisfied Snarleen MacFester answered asking how she could help me. I asked her to get the Clubcard reader at Cashel working but she said she was unable to do that but would pass my message on. I told her not to bother but to let me talk to who ever she was passing the message to, suggesting to her that she wasn't the least bit helpful. Lead balloon job.

I bought diesel anyway as it was cheaper than my nearest filling station, but I'm at the loss of savings on the fuel and my Clubcard points.

As they're relatively cheap they'll get a few sales but I'll avoid them in future. They're about as good as Tescomobile IME.

It sounds like a good deal, but I don't like their self service set up.

I also didn't find their prices any cheaper, at a couple of Dublin locations.

No doubt Tesco will blame them and they'll blame Tesco for the failure of the machines - but give them both hell!!!

Disaster... I still have the credit card size original clubcard I got. I scanned that, I would also have been able to pop it into the card slot.
It still took me a few attempts to get it to scan, I had it too close originally, needed to be about 3 inches away.

They were 1-2c cheaper that the Applegreens and Circle K I passed on the way to Clare Hall.

It's a bit counter intuitive unless you've driven in the States or other places where you pays your money up front and get the fuel at the end of the process but it works well. I've checked card and transaction amounts since, all OK.. There's an integration opportunity here for someone and welding a debit/credit card and a loyalty card together via a petrol pump is not the optimal technological solution!!

That was quick! Less than 24 hours after emailing them I got this!!
Note land-line number and perhaps address for future ref. I sent back the information requested by return.
There might be a hope yet although UK based.

"Hi mathepac,

Thank you for your email, and I'm sorry to hear about this!

Could you please confirm the last 4 digits of the card you paid with so I can locate your transaction?

Kind regards,

I feel we're becoming best buds at this stage. Not the ideal outcome unfortunately, but better than nothing and confirming @odyssey06's instructions for scanning the loyalty card.

I'd be willing to give them another shot based on this interaction, its speed and their willingness to help. They say TESCO can't do Clubcard points after the event but let me check that tomorrow directly with TESCO and see if I can sweet-talk them into €55-ish worth of points. ;)

"Hi mathepac,

Thanks for confirming those details. I was able to locate your receipt and can see that the promotion was unfortunately not applied.

I am unable to add the discount on to your receipt retroactively, however if you reply to this message with your home address (including Eircode), I will send you a voucher for an additional 10 cent off/litre discount that can be used after this promotion ends (between June 28-July 31).

As a reminder, your Tesco Clubcard must be scanned at the beginning of each transaction. There are a few ways to scan your Tesco Clubcard. If you have the large credit card sized card, you can insert it in the credit card slot at the pump, or you can scan it at the card scanner. If you have the smaller keychain fob or the Tesco mobile app on your phone, you must scan it at the card scanner.
The card (or barcode on your mobile) should be held back about 6 inches from the scanner. Once accepted, you will hear a beep and the words "Loyalty Accepted" will show on the screen.

Certa has prepared a short how-to video available on YouTube where you can see how to scan your Clubcard. Please refer to the “need instructions?” QR code in my signature below or click the following link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QiC2SMu5Xhk

Please don't hesitate to contact me should you have any further questions.
