I am in a house for less than 6 months. When I came back to the house after Xmas, the place was completely flooded due to burst pipes and I mean flooded, damaged some of my personal equipment but I didn't have my items insured.
Plus I had to stay in a hotel that night I came back at my expense, I filled the oil tank on return and it's been on 24/7 to dry the place.
Two weeks later house is still not right , odour from carpet, no showers working and dampness on both windows and doors etc..., this is despite the landlord spending time last week to claer up the problem.
Situation now is I am not happy and want out. Problem is I signed a lease for 12months and I am sure now that I will forfeit my deposit. I am 5 months into the lease.
So today I emailed the letting company to tell them I want out of the lease as the house is not upto standard.
Do I have a chance of getting my deposit back at all?
