Hello,

I am in the process of applying for a term loan of $7000 which I need for my very small business.

I thought I should shop around rather than just going straight to the bank.

I was hoping to pay €7000 back over four years.

Does anyone know where I can compare the rates offered by various banks - is there a site - and is it possible to fix the interest rate borrowed at to todays rates?

Thanks for reading,

Is it a unsecured personal loan? Are the rates listed in the best buys of any use?

You might also want to check with your credit union but be aware of the ongoing debates about their "pricing" policies:

I note you refer to dollars in your post. This board is aimed at Irish personal financial queries, so we are unlikely to have sensible answers to non-Irish queries.

Hi domainer111,

The $ sign is obviously a typo, dont mind rainyday he's a little tetchy these days.

Is the €7,000 for business expansion? If it is do you have a business plan? There may be more appropriate ways to fund business expansion depending on what you want to achieve. For instance how do you know that €7,000 is enough? Perhaps you might want to phase it over the 4 years?

It might be an idea to talk to an accountant/business consultant who specialises in small businesses/start ups.

I'm sure there are some internet resources availiable for people like you with a small business and in need of a little capital. I'll have a trawl and will post here if I find anything.

All of the banks have specialist sections for small and growing businesses. It would be well worth you while talking to them to see if they could help.

Hope this is of some use to you,
Ajapale
