Tenant leaving because of Dirty Neighbour

Hi,

I was just wondering if anybody might have some advice on this situation.

We have an investment property rented and have had the same tenant for the past 2 years. We have just been notified that the tenant is leaving as the neighbour's garden is very overgrown and there is ivy growing up the front of his house and this is causing a lot of flies & insects etc to go into the house. We had a similar problem last year when she had mice & flies coming into the house from his garden.

We have contacted the Dept. of Environment but they cannot do anything aparently. They can only get involved if Domestic Waste is being dumped, but I do not think that is the case.

The neighbour appears to own the house himself. Can anything be done about this or is he entitled to leave his garden overgrown etc. if it is his house?

Our tenant has said that there is a washing machine & a fridge dumped in his back garden so he doesn't appear to care about his property!

Thank you.
