It is an awful lot easier to give some informed advice if the situation is made clear. The pithy few liners given above are not helpful in that regard.
I don't know who told you it was a "huge rigmarole and v expensive to even see paperwork" but it should not be, for any of the parties to the transaction.
If you are the person affected by the situation, go to a solicitor and ask for advice, giving them some more information than set out here and they will be able to advise you.
Sorry, not great at using this. What details would help to know. As I said before I have been left in the dark about most of this. I have contacted the solicitor concerned, but in case she is representing the other siblings I thought I'd try and find out generally how the law stands.
