temporary work taxation

I am working for an organisation for the summer.my friend works in the company and got me the job.I am officially not an employee and have not signed anything.I think the company are goin to account for me on their books as being a consultant.Am I required to organise and pay my own tax or is the company responsible for sorting it out?thanks

YOu need to establish your status. As an employee you will be taxed emergency until you provide a tax credit cert. As a self-employed consultant you will have self-assessment filing obligations and would then be registering with Revenue as self-employed for that income. I'd check with the company to see what the position is rather than assuming anything.
