Hi,

Anyone know anything about installing a light in the attic that comes on once the temp drops below a certain level? Am thinking of getting one installed before the real winter weather kicks in. Would it be an infra red heat light that would be used?

Would anyone know where these could be got and if they are easy to install?

You could use a standard thermostat for the temperture control.

It's also possible to get a plug socket which has a thermostat built in.

Why use a light? You are wasting energy producing uneccessary light, just get heater desined for the job.

Most builders providers should stock a plug in Frost Watch heater. ~200W heater with adjustable thermostat control for €15 in the current [broken link removed] brochure for example.

Very interesting thread, thanks to the contributors. About what temperature should one set the device? Is 0 degrees too obvious and answer?
