Telephone cards while travelling?

Will be going on hols in Europe tomorrow.

My cousin is sick in hospital and I want to phone her everyday to provide support (from afar!).

Are there phone cards you can buy that make calls very inexpensive even from an ordinary phone abroad?

Eircom cards are available from most retailers - Supervalue etc etc here. However, in the location that you are going to you can most likely pick up better value cards there.
