Hi,
I have a limited company (IT Contractor).

From looking at other responses on here I cannot get a Tax Saver for myself.
So I expense the Leap Card costs.

My Wife will do some work for the company, so can I apply as an Employeer to Tax Saver and then get her a Tax Saver ticket?

Good and all as this site is, I wouldn't rely exclusively on offhand or throwaway comments on any business tax issue. Especially on a thread more than 4 years old.

Your right. That's good advice T McGibney :)

I spend €4.40/day on the Dart using a LEAP card.
If work an average of 22 days a month that's €96.80
A Monthly TaxSaver for the Dart is €122.00

Is it worth my while getting aTaxSaver ticket since I can expense the LEAP card costs?

Is the TaxSaver cheaper because of some tax reduction or something like that?

I don't understand the tax side of things.

Thanks.

You will first need to be fully sure that you can validly claim your travel costs as an expense for your company. If you're simply commuting to and from a fixed place of work, Revenue are likely to contend that you shouldn't claim these costs as an expense.

On the other hand, if you are travelling to and from a variety of locations away from a fixed place of work, you will be in a much stronger position to defend these claims, if they are challenged.

If your company is paying for your TaxSaver ticket, there may be a need for you to make an adjustment in your accounts to take personal (non-business) use into account.
