My travel time home this evening will be, I guess, doubled by the disruptions blocking access to the EastLink. I don't know who is protesting, or why, but if they're looking for public sympathy, they're going about it the wrong way.
What response, in me, is this protect supposed to elicit ? Lobby my local TDs on behalf of the protestors?
The taxi drivers have been shouting about their issues for the last 2 years and did that get anyones attention? Did it get your sympathy? I doubt it.
It is only by doing something disruptive that they may get attention, they dont want your sympathy, just some action\changes on the regulation of the industry.
Anyone fancy blocking some taxi ranks next week ?
I want to protest the price of eggs, and think it's the best way.

I'm confused, if things are so bad for taxi drivers, why are there so many taxi drivers now in the country?
The Taxi drivers are having a very hard time at the moment. The number of taxi plates in the city since deregulation has increased by several thousand. There are many part time taxi drivers who come in to the city for the busiest times. Many of these are teachers, retired people on pensions etc. As long as they can produce a tax free clearance cert they can work away. There is still a lot of tax free money to be made. Having said all that I don't believe that blocking up the city on a Friday will help them
