Taxi O'Connell St to National Concert Hall

Is there a minimum distance a taxi will travel? I am taking my elderly Mam to the National Concert Hall and we have a lift to O'Connell Street and hope to get a taxi from there. Question is will a taxi driver be happy to drive such a short distance?

Yes you should be fine. The ranks on O'Connell Street move quickly so I don't think drivers would have a problem. Have often gotten a taxi from O'Connell Street to Merrion Square and have had no problem.

Clubman: looked at your suggestion. I think my mother's problem may be with the "eye catching" aspect. A lady of her generation does not like to draw attention to themselves, much less scream "Here I come"!
 
No minimum distance that I know of.

As far as I know the rules are (or used to be anyway when Dublin Corporation regulated the taxis before the single Taxi regulator)

If you take a taxi from a taxi rank the driver is obliged to take you where you want to go, provided it's within the Dublin Taximeter area (this may have changed slightly given I don't think there' is a dublin taximeter area any more ?)

If you hail the taxi on the street then the driver can choose not to take you if he doesn't want to go where you want to go.

What is reasonable refusal of a hire?
Taxi drivers have the right to refuse to carry a passenger requesting to travel in excess of 30km. A driver may also refuse a disorderly passenger.
 
I've never had a problem getting a taxi for that sort of distance in the citry centre, and have regularly gotten one from the south quays / IFSC to Earlsfort Terrace, and vice versa.
 
Oh, Are you going the see the RTE/ALW concert there tonight? Theres a great line-up, David Shannon - who is taking over the lead in Les Mis in Nov in the West End and just happens to be brill and Jessie Buckly from I'd do anything, Aoife Mullholland!!
I would love to have gone but just could'nt make it this evening.

Jack2008 Yes! It is Lloyd Webber music. My mother is a big fan of his but thinks his brother is better looking! Thank you all for your replies :)
