Hey all, Hoping someone could help with what looks like a grey area as far as i can see. Heres my situation.

1) I am an Irish Citizen who left the country last December and moved to Canada on a permanent basis. (at least 5 years)
2) I have had tourist status in Canada and do not have a Social security number, although i have been granted permanent residency. I will have a RSI number very soon and shoudl begin work in Canada by Jan/Feb
3) I have not worked in this year
4) I bought shares in ireland through AIB Nov 2006 for $30k
5) in september 2007 i transferred these to an Etrade account, giving my irish address and PRSI number and stating that i lived in Ireland as i had no status anywhere else.
6) I sold the shares for a profit of $3k and began active day trading with etrade in spetember.
7) My account now totals $153k.
The question of course is am i liable to pay tax on my $120k gain in ireland as i have not been there for over a year and the moeny will never enter ireland. And do i have to pay it in Canada as i dont have a social security number or work permit.

Any advice would be much appreciated as the year end rolls up!

Thanks

C
