Tax/Revenue questions

How much should/would it cost me to have somebody do my tax returns for the last few years?
PAYE worker with some messy share dealings over the years, some BIK (company car, mortgage) guessing I will probably owe Revenue money.

If I sold some shares in Dec 2007 having bought them in Jan 2002, can I
use the CGT allowance every year of €1,270 to reduce my CGT
or is it just the one in the year I sell the shares that I can claim?

Hypothetically speaking
If a person owed money to the Revenue and knew they were dying,
would the money still have to be paid after their death or does it lapse when the person who owes it dies?

The estate would still have to discharge all tax liabilities as far as I know.

There is only one allowance. It cannot be carried forward from year to year. If you sold shares in December 2007 then CGT has to be paid before 31st January 2008, so you don't have much time!

You should be able to get someone to prepare a basic income tax return for €400 to €500 plus VAT.

Tax on BIK is now deducted through the payroll and has been for the last few years, so your employer should be paying over tax on your BIK to the Revenue. You should be able to see it on your payslips.

Basic CGT computation with some share dealings would cost around the same as a basic income tax return. You said you had 'messy' dealings... not sure what that means but dependent on your circumstances you could pay a bit more for the CGT computation if its not that starightforward. There shouldn't be anything too overly complicated in a CGT calculation for shares though.
