Hi all, i have a rental property, this is the first year for a tax return. I am going on holiday for three weeks, must the tax return be in by the 31st of october or can you do it a week or two after

If you mean that 2007 is the first year then 31/10/08 is indeed ( as widely advertised ) the deadline. You get an extension to 17/11/08 if both the return and payments are made via ROS (Revenue Online System) However registration for ROS for a first time user takes a bit of time involving some snail mail. If the return is late then the taxpayer faces surcharges / interest and possible penalties and increased chance of Revenue Audit. I'd recommend you get your tax skates on pretty quickly.

If you are set up on the revenue on line system (ROS) you have until November 17th to make the return.

Otherwise its October 31st.

Late returns may incur late fees, interest and penalties. I'd play it safe and make the reurn before the closing date.

You asked on 24/10/07 when tax was due. You are now asking again on 20/10/08. Thats why I made the observation I did. Revenue have been advertising widely since approx. July about 2007 deadlines. Why on earth would anyone require an extension !
