both myself and my girlfriend had the laser eye surgery performed in 2007 at a cost of €4,200 each. her salary is €30k pa whereas mine is €60k. Is there anything stopping me from claiming her laser surgery in my tax return thus receiving 4,200 @ 41% as opposed to 20%? Also i have registered us both with reachservices, is it just a matter of completing the med 1 online?

Who actually paid for the surgery? If your girlfriend paid for her own you could not claim it on your tax return, as you are not jointly assessed.

yes i paid for both surgery's so do you think this would satisfy revenue if i was ever subject to an inspection?

Yes, that is fine. Whoever pays for the surgery can claim the relief. You must have actually paid for it however and it doesn't matter what the other person's link is to you. Google AAM and you'll see I had similar queries recently.
