A bit of a quandry with the reveenue.

Completed a two year post grad at Reading University last year (Distance learning, Irish resident). Got tax relief back ok for first year, sent off for 2nd year relief and got letter from revenue this course was not an 'approved' course and therefore did not qualify for relief.

Should I contact revenue, remind them I already got tax relief for 1st year, or just let it lie (in case thy realise they may have made a mistake). BTW, friend who did course with me had tax relief for both years refunded.

Ring them up and do not let it drop until you get your relief.

The same situation occured with me, when my course was not on the 'list'. Bascially, if you meet the criteria for an approved course, it does not matter whether it is on their list ir not. If you look at the list it is actually ridiculously short, and could not be in any way comprehensive or complete.

I got relief on a non listed course that met the approval requirements.

Thanks for that SNB - I have of course contacted them, they have asked me to resumbit. They have confirmed it is entitled to tax relief.
