My wife has given up her job to go back to college for 4 years. As a dependent, can I claim tax relief on this?
I am an IT contractor with my own limited company of which my wife and I are directors.
Thanks

are you jointly assessed for tax? if yes, then she can claim the tax credit & it can a transferred to you (contact the tax office to do this with her other credits too if she is not going to be working).
first you will need to check if the course qualifies (a four year course probably would but check it out).

If she is eligible for free tuition fees (ie EU student studying for 1st degree), she will only have to pay registration fees, and you cannot claim tax back on that - if she is paying full tuition fees, you can claim tax back.
