Tax Relief on tuition fees

I know there have been other threads on this but none have answered my specific question. I understand that I can get tax relief on my tuition fees if I return to college full time and in year one I'd get 42% back on the first 5000euro paid in tuition fees (total I'd be paying is more than that but I understand that's the ceiling). But how does it work in subsequent years as I'll no longer be on 42% tax rate as I won't be working full time. Does this mean I'd only get 20% back on tuition fees for years 2 to 4? I've emailed revenue but have had no response as of yet.

Tax relief on qualifying tuition fees is at your marginal income tax rate - i.e. 0%, 20% or 41% (not 42%) depending on what you earn.

Sorry - my mistake! I was thinking of MED1 or something else...

Thank you for that! That means the most I can get is therefore 1000 per year I take it.

If the full €5K qualifies for tax relief and you are paying at least €1K in tax then yes.
