Tax relief on medical expenses

Yes, any expenses that attract tax relief and are not covered by VHI can be claimed. For instance, if VHI reimburse you for half the consultant fees, then you can claim tax relief on the other half.

I'm with Quinn Direct. They keep the receipts as well, but send back a statement of what was submitted, the amounts charged and the amount re-imbursed by them. The statement is acceptable to the revenue commissioners in lieu of the actual receipts (if revenue request the information).

Thanks Joe, but when we submit the medical expenses to VHI they keep the receipts, so we have no evidence of expense for revenue, would this be a problem? or would VHI record of claim be enough? Thank again
Photocopy the receipts before sending them to the VHI? That's what I do. Revenue probably won't ever come looking for them anyway.
