Tax relief on employer paid health insurance

The revenue site says its possible to claim relief when an employer pays health insurance. I'm a bit confused by this, isn't the relief granted to the employer at source? Should I register the amount that my employer pays when I'm adding reliefs on reachservices.ie?
 
When an employer pays for this on behalf of the employee then they are obliged to deduct tax and PRSI on the BIK that arises. I think the employer gets tax relief at source on the payments but this is irrelevant to you. You should take the monthly amount of the BIK stated on your payslip, multiply it by 12 and then claim the standard rated tax credit on that amount as far as I know. That's what I do anyway.
 
Thanks for that, I'm just a bit confused as on the ROS site I'm trying to add it as a relief, the only applicable section is asking me to add the following amount: " Amount paid (including amounts paid by employer) where relief was not granted at source" Surely relief was granted at source for all of it, just not me to? Should I add the amount here?
 
What is the handiest way of claiming this, is it possible to just send them an email with your details?
 
I wrote to them with details and had my tax credits adjusted that way. I normally find that dealing with any organisation is better by way of letter rather than by email or verbally. Paper trails and all that...
