Hi, I need crowns and veneers at a high cost and want to claim back on my partner's tax. Does anyone know how much you can actually get back?

my 'common- law' husband, he is employed.

It depends what rate he pays tax at. If it's 20% you'll get 20% of the price of the treatment back. If he pays tax at 41% you'll get 41% back. The good news is that as of 2007 there's no 'excess', i.e. the first €125 is now covered.

According to [broken link removed] You can claim tax relief on medical expenses incurred by yourself, your spouse, dependent children or dependent relatives.

I am unsure whether the term 'common law wife' fits into this catagory.

It's been changed...once you're paying, you can claim tax relief on the relevant treatments for literally anyone. You can see that the article is out of date as the €125/€250 limits which I said have been abolished are still mentioned.
