Our local church is looking for PRSI numbers to claim tax relief from our weekly contributions , does anybody know how that works

Say you contribute 10 euro per week 520 per annum. This is from your Net Pay
and you pay tax@ 20%

the church can get an additional 130 i.e Rev calc your gross pay deduct the church contribution and tax the remainder.

There will be more if you pay tax at 41%

This is normally done by way of a deed of covenant and you get the tax back. This may have changed

Yeah that sounds about right. may I ask a question ?

If you do such a thing as this covenant would you still put money in the collection plate when its handed around ? I'm curious, would anyone feel self conscious if you didnt put money in with everyone watching ? I just remember from my old grandparents that they always had to put something in , even if they were hard up.
