I am trying to figure out the tax relief limit on pensions.

I am a public sector employee and on my payslip I have Pension and a separate line item ASC deduction.

Is it only the figure after pension that you count in the formula on the link above or do you include ASC instead.

If you are trying to calculate the scope for AVCs, the ASC can be ignored. See this guide here.

One final question, If I retire in October is it straight forward, or is there any reduction / calculation as a result of not having a full years pension contribution / salary paid.

i.e. Is the salary, the salary paid to date and is the pension, the pension paid to date.
