Can anybody advise me on this situation please?
I owned two properties, one in Dublin which I used mid-week while at work, and the other outside Dublin (purchased in 2006) where I lived at weekends and holidays. I was paying mortgages on both properties, and I was getting TRS on Dublin house loan.
I have now sold the Dublin property and am renting a house there for mid-week use.
Can I simply elect to get TRS on the remaining house I own? I have a suspicion that in practice the Revenue accept a declaration as to what is one's Principal Private Residence. In my case the position is unclear.
