Tax recovery on retirement

Hi all,

I have a general query re my father who has just retired in dec after 40 yrs working, my query is whether he is entitled to claim back the tax he paid during 2005?

Any help greatly appreciated

Most likely only if he retired before the end of the month leaving some small amount of spare tax credits unused for which he can reclaim some tax. No harm in submitting his 2005 P60 or other evidence of income in 2005 to Revenue asking them to check if there was any overpayment.
