Hi,

I'm in rented accomodation at the moment and I'm payin €240.00 per mth plus a 1/3 of all the total bills eg gas, esb & waste. I'm saving away nicely to get together the deposit for a house, is it possible to claim tax back on the expenses I am incurring at the moment? I'm also studying at night. I'm doing a BBS degree and is it possible to claim tax back on the tuition fees? On a general note, I read in papers that the finance people of this world do not think that when the SSIA money comes back into this world, people won't really spend it on the purchase of houses and will reinvest it back into pensions, and i feel that they are not in the real world. My SSIA matures in october 2006 so do i have to get a form signed by the banking institution 3 mths prior to the the mature date?

HI,

Ya you can get a tax credit for rent and waste the forms are abvailable on the Revenue website. I am almost sure there is a tax credit available for adult education however the details i am unsure off. Ring you local tax office and they will have the full details for you.
As for the deposit for your house you can now avail of the 100% mortgage so no need for the full deposit to be saved. From what i hear 120% mortgage is on its way.

Hope this helps
