My wife and I have just had a baby boy 4 weeks ago. The question I have is do we get any tax relief/credits for him?The only thing that I can find on the ROS site is the one parent family credits...we are married and tax'd jointly
myself and my partner are ummarried/cohabiting, with 3 children and unfortunately cannot claim tax credits in respect of the kids. Previously I was a working single parent and was able to claim for one child, now with 2 more kids and a partner I can't claim any credits, even though all the kids details are recorded with revenue! its very annoying as one of us pays tax at the highest rate ! just gotta tie the knot I reckon !
As Clubman has pointed out, there is no tax credit for children in Ireland.
If you are a stay-at-home Mother, then you and your partner would pay less tax if you were married, but if you both work, and you both pay tax at 42%,then there is no difference.
Try the tax calculator above to see if there is any difference in your case.
