Tax query

I am in full time paye employment where my taxes and prsi are paid out weekly by my employer. On Jan 6th I started a part time evening job where I work 2 evenings a week and earn an extra 100 a week on top of my weekly wages from my full time job.
My question is how do I go about paying the tax and what not due on my extra income?
I have nothing to be claiming relief or expenses for so it’s pretty straight forward.

Cheers!

Give them an invoice as it is self employed.

you could return it on a form 12 from revenue panel 10.

@confused - does your part-time employer deduct tax / PRSI / levies or is this a "cash-in-hand" job?

Will he / she supply you with a P60 at year-end?

Based on the level of part-time earnings, you will need to register as self-employed (~ €5,000 per-annum from part-time) and submit Form 11 at year-end.

Which form will I need to file a form 11 or 12 ??
I get paid cash in hand. I wont be getting a p60 at the year end.

just another quick question please

I started this extra income 06/01/09

when will I be making my first tax retun will it be oct 09 or oct 2010?

oct 2010 add p60 and self employed for tax return

file tr1 to register as selfemployed.

I wont be getting a p60 from my part time employer as the only thing he asked of me was my bank account number.
Is it the p60 from my full time employer I send in?

Do I have to register as self employed now or can I wait till the year end?

self employed-part time job

file tr1 now and backdate to start of partime job.

tax return will not be due till 31/10/10

but you can't decide you're self-employed in regard to this part-time employment - it will depend on the type of work and the nature of it. for example if you're working in a bar/shop you are not providing a service to the employer on a contract basis.
you will need to check the revenue leaflet entitled 'employed or self-employed a guide for tax and social insurance' which i'm having difficulty in finding a link to.

sorry - I meant "self-assessed" rather than "self-employed" - see this Revenue leaflet - [broken link removed]

I work in the evenings as a cleaner.
I did not sign any contract. As I said the only information they wanted was my bank details so they can pay me. I have not given them my pps number or anything like that. So I dont think they'll be giving me a p60.
Because there is no contract they can let me go at any time.

At the year end can I not just go in and say hey I have earned this much extra this year how much tax would ye like?

Thanks your all your help I'm far less confussed than I was
