I have a query and I am hoping someone can help me!

Ok, I am married and I was made redundant in Jan 07, I phoned the revenue to advise them that I wanted all my tax credits to go to my husband untill I found suitable employment. I was on social welfare for 13 months, in this time my husband was only taxed 34 euro a week. I started full time employment a few weeks ago and since I had gone back to work he is being taxed 280 per week! I want him to keep my tax credits as he is the higher earner, He phoned the revenue and was told that we needed to wait for a cert and as soon as that was back he would be refunded the amount he was overcharged by!

My question is will he be refunded for this? And is there anything else we need to do, they just told us to wait??

Thanks, any help is much appreciated

Has your husband not received his Tax Credit Certificate yet, can he get a copy from his Employer, this amendment should be able to be done by a simple trip to the local tax office?

One point to note is that while your husband will receive the refund you do realise that your pay will be very little while this is corrected as your Tax Credits will reduce therefore putting you in a negative position of owing tax to the Revenue if you have been getting the benefit of your own personal tax credits, however if you are on emergency tax then it shouldn't be an issue.
