hi just wondering im thinking of buyin a house in ireland but i live abroad. Is tax required to be paid on rent i receive from tenants?

Almost unbelievably, the tenants have a duty to withold the tax payable from rent and pay it to the revenue where they know their landlord is non-resident. A farce of a situation, but don't be surprised if down the line you hear this from your tenants.

Unless of course the landlord appoints an agent resident in Ireland to collect the rent on his behalf ...
