Hello everyone
this is one of my first posts here, I must say what a great helpful site this is please keep up the good work, and hopefully some one can give me some advice,

within the next month I will be in a position to withdraw a sizeable lumpsum ( approx 100K )from a european insurance, this is a bit like a traded endoment policy, however that is not the problem, the problem is when this money hits my irish bank account,

I don't mind paying my fair share of tax but I don't want to be overtaxed
I am an ordinary employee on approx 25K a year and this is going to pay a few bills that are presently putting me under extreme pressure so I need as much of this lumpsum as possible,

so can anyone tell me do I go see a private financial adviser or what ??
thank you
Pat Boy

How was this investment (?) purchased/funded? Was it from money that was declared?

In that case...

... that would seem like a sensible approach given the fact that lump sum is worth about 4 years of your gross (?) salary.
