Tax implications of Parental Leave ?

My wife will be taking 9 weeks unpaid parental leave this summer. What effect will this have on our income tax situation ? We are married, jointly assessed under PAYE.
I am in the private sector, she works in local govt.
I am on 48K, she is on about 14K (job-sharer) gross.

Would we be entitled to a tax refund ?
 
Hi, sorry can't help, but a quick call to your tax office should do the trick. I have taken parental leave and my company supposedly sorted out the tax for me (took it as shorter working week over prolonged period).

don't do anything, when she goes back to work she will have built up a small refund based on her credits while she was out, although if she is paying no tax she won't get any back. Make sure at the end of every year you send both your P60s into the tax office along with a med1 (if necessary) looking for a balancing statement - I bet 50 piggy points that you get a refund for 2004 if you do that now.
