I've recently received a Form 12 from Revenue. When I return it will Revenue then ask me to fill one out for every year since I started working (about 20 years)? How far back can they go? Do I need to start getting income details for the last 20 or so years?

What is the reason you received Form 12?

If you an employee for the last few years, maybe file last 4 or if their seems no major issue involved just file the one they are looking for on form.

You certainly won't be asked to fill one in for every year worked for the last 20 years .

As far as I know , around 10 % of paye workers are sent a form 12 to be filled in.

This may be activated by a change in your normal tax credits , like maybe , company shares , dividends , capital gains , chargeable assets etc .

Its easy enough to fill in , however always answer every question asked and tick all necessary boxes , and enter zero's whereever the question dont apply to your situation .
