Tax for freelance work

Hi there, I'm looking for some advice on my situation.
I'm living and working in Vancouver, Canada but I'm also registered as a sole trader in Ireland and do contract design work for an Irish business.

My question is am I required to pay tax to the revenue on that income in Ireland?

I've been told by an online accounting agency that If I carried out the work remotely as a self-employed person and was a non-resident of Ireland for tax purposes, there is no requirement to file a tax return in Ireland.

Just looking for a second opinion.

Domiciled, ordinarily resident but not resident

An Irish person who leaves Ireland will continue to be ordinarily resident here for the first three years.

A domiciled, ordinarily resident but non-resident person is liable to Irish tax on worldwide income with the exception of:

1 income from a trade or profession no part of which is carried on in Ireland.

2 income from an employment the duties of which are carried on abroad.

3 other foreign income provided it does not exceed €3,810. (If it does exceed €3,810 then the full amount is taxable in Ireland, not just the excess).

Why are you registered as a sole trader in Ireland?
I registered as a sole trader thinking I would need to pay tax on the contract work I'm doing.
But because I'm living abroad and I'm carrying out all the work outside of Ireland I'm now led to believe that I don't need to pay tax in Ireland for this income.

I believe I did say I was an Irish resident yeah. Not knowing the true definitions and differences between resident and domiciled.

You'll need to resolve this with Revenue as a matter of urgency.

Revenue have only recently tightened up their registration procedures for non-residents and now require non-resident applicants to complete and file a detailed TR1FT registration form.
