Tax exemption question re owner occupier renting out rooms in house

Hi,

Apologies if this question has been asked before....

I've just bought a house with my brother and the intention is to rent out some of the rooms for now. Of the two of us, only my brother will live in the house periodically. I do not intend on taking a room.

Will we be exempt from income tax on the rental income (as long as it doesn't exceed €7,620) or do both of us have to live in the house in order to qualify?
