Tax exemption enquiry

i hope someone can assist me or at offer a little clarification.

i have been updating my details on ROS for previous tax years and found out I can get one parent benefit and rent relief on the 2007 tax year. now a week later my details seem to have been updated to include both but there is also a tax exemption showing for quite a significant amount. I have never seen this before and did not apply for it.

my salary isn't under the minimal limit, i am not an artist and haven't been selling horses or greyhounds so have no idea what this could be.

i am english and have been working here since beginning of 2006 but no amount of trawling through the revenue website has offered any help.

any advice would be greatly appreciated as at the moment I think it is just an error

If you ring up your local tax office they should be able to explain this for you.

Fwiw, selling horses and greyhounds are not tax-exempt activities.

thank you, i had, wrongly, assumed that i would have to contact ros customer services which is contantly engaged!!

my comment in relation horses and greyhounds was from very, very brief reviews on tax exemption which i have obviously not read properly

No, actually ROS customer services will merely redirect you back to the tax office if you ring them with a tax-related query. Its very frustrating.
