If I may ask this question.

I am currently doing a FAS course and of course I hope that I can return to full time employment.

My query however is, my husband is now on Disability Pension due to ill health and will not work again - also he was made redundant last year just as he became ill.

Are his tax credits now gone, if I were to return to work, would my credits be the same as if he were working and we had spilt them 50/50 or can I assume his credits (if of course he has any now)

Any help on this greatly appreciated.

Some of his credits would be used to cover his DP. However there may excess credits over that which would be needed to cover the DP and those may be able to be transferred to you. The best way to resolve this is ring Revenue's LoCall number ( on your tax credit cert) , have the details ready on his DP etc. and request that any excess which can be transferred go to you. This may also be the case with the standard rate cut-off point although there are limits to how much SRCOP may be transferred.
